It was one of the harder things that Kay & I
ever had to do in our 27 years of marriage - 
saying goodbye to our children and grandbaby.
Some tears where shed, but we (Kay, Hanna, and I)
and they, know we are following our Lord and 
that His grace will be there for all of us.

When we were in IL in August, we intentionally
sought out some speaking engagements and support - 
and God was so good!  During this holiday season,
we felt not to do that, but spend as much time
with family as possible, but to pray about anything 
or anyone that would seek us out for speaking or ministry.
Even though there was no notice or promotion, we
were AMAZED and Blessed by the how many incredible
and amazing saints and groups of believers got
a hold of us, gave us offerings, and were added
to our faithful core of supporters.  This was
such an wonderful surprise while we were in IL.

The Lord has used many ways to lead, confirm and
encourage us - including a the daily devotional
we use:  My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald 
Chambers.  A year and a half ago when Kay was on 
the plane leaving our home of 40+ years, she 
read the devotional from August 1:

In part:  "He comes where He commands us to leave. If you stayed home when God told you to go because you were so concerned about your own people there, then you actually robbed them of the teaching of Jesus Christ Himself. When you obeyed and left all the consequences to God, the Lord went into your city to teach, but as long as you were disobedient, you blocked His way. Watch where you begin to debate with Him and put what you call your duty into competition with His commands. If you say, "I know that He told me to go, but my duty is here," it simply means that you do not believe that Jesus means what He says."

left, again not knowing for sure when we would be 
back in  Rockford and the pain this causes those

Here is an update on our transition into Fiji life:

We have received our 3 year work permit/visa.  
This again was a blessings, not knowing how the
coup would affect the process.

Also - we have found a place to rent. Some 
missionaries going to Chad contacted YWAM here to  
see if anyone would want to rent their place while 
they were in Chad for 3 years.  We went to the 
apartment and Hanna loved it - so we said yes.  
It isn't in the best part of the city, but we feel 
it is the place the Lord has for us.  It will be a 
blessing to these missionaries also knowing their 
place is being taken care of, etc.  We will be 
living in the city, and the conditions remind 
us of Mexico.

The last week we have been learning as much as we
can.  What food to buy, how to cook, where to go
for certain things, etc. 

Curt will start some advanced training next week
to prepare for the IWT, Impact World Tour, that will
be in September & October of this year.  We will
update you with the progress of that project as we
move forward.  Working with the IWT will give us
wonderful opportunities to connect with most of
the Christian leaders in Fiji over the next few
months.  These contacts and relationships we are
sure will be part of what the Lord uses to help
us and YWAM for the future.

We have also been asked to step in and manage the 
National YWAM office.  Please pray for a quick 
learning curve :-)

For most people, life is "normal" here in Fiji
in spite of the coup.  There are soldiers with
machine guns and check points, but we feel safe
and welcome.  The soldiers smile and wave back
to you :-)

We will be getting a phone in our home sometime
in February. In the meantime we have a cell phone.

Be sure to check your long distance rate to Fiji
before you call!  Also Fiji is 17 hours ahead of
USA eastern time.  (Or in another way to look at
it - we are the next day - but seven hours earlier!)

Sometime between now and when the school ends
in April we will be looking for the vehicle the
Lord has for us.  Please pray for this need.
We will let you know the amount when we have 
found a vehicle.  We have already started a fund
towards this because all of our transitionary needs
were met!  Thank you Lord for our faithful
supporters.
