'`'`'`' Johnson Family Missions '`'`'`' '`'`'`'`' December 2006 '`'`'`'`' Hi !fname: The last 16 months have gone by so very fast. It won't be long until we are all rejoicing in Heaven together! Until then, we move forward for what the Lord created us for in this life :-) We have finished our formal missionary training in Hawaii and all of us (Curt, Kay, and Hanna) will be returning to Illinois for the Holidays before we leave for the nation of Fiji. We will be moving there in January - we don't know how long - at least the next few years. Ywam is allowing us to go back to Illinois to see our new grandson before we leave. You can see a picture from our commissioning ceremony on our web site. http://www.johnsonfamilymissions.org We hope to see all our children while in IL. Holli will be returning from her missions trip to Namibia Africa. We will share her story on our web site when she returns. Heather is doing well in Idaho with a good job and seeking the Lord for her future. Heath will have a break between semesters at ISU and spend time with us over the holidays. We will be staying with Heidi and Andy and doing as much babysitting as they allow us to :-) Fiji is in the midst of a crisis right now on the verge of another coup. Please pray. This will should not delay us in going. When we tell people we are going to Fiji, many of course only have the exotic resorts as a frame of reference. There are some wonderful vacation spots in Fiji, but these resorts are tucked away from the rest of the country - most of Fiji is very poor, but God is doing a work there. Please read over our website to catch a glimpse of what we will be doing and how the Lord wants to bring His Kingdom not only to Fiji, but use it as a sending base for disciples to impact the Pacific Rim, Asia, including the almost 1 BILLION Hindus in India - most of who have not heard the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus. Please ask the Lord if He would want you to support us. All YWAMers live by faith and no one is paid. If so, please read this note from the accounting department from our base: "To donate to a missionary or a fund please 1) make checks payable to "YWAM". 2) Please write their name on a SEPARATE piece of paper or sticky note as follows "for the support of ...(full name of missionary) in ...(city & country)" For U.S. citizens this is very important as the IRS will not consider it as a donation to our non profit organization if the person's name is on the check & thereby the gift will not be considered tax deductible. 3) Mail check to: YWAM PO Box 61700 Honolulu, HI 96839 Try to get checks to us by the 24th or the previous Friday if the 24th is on a weekend. Any check received after the 24th will be processed on the 1st of the following month. We will mail you a receipt once the check has been processed. Thank you for your support! We have had some of you ask, so we wanted to reply, and thank you for your concern. We are in Illinois now until we leave for Fiji. Fiji has been taken over by a military coup. We thank God there was no blood shed. It is a very complicated scenario rooted in racism and greed. You can follow the news if you want here: http://www.fijitimes.com Kay, Hanna, and I have tickets to leave for Fiji on January 13th. We plan on departing as scheduled. We know the safest place to be is in God's perfect will. As we have followed and studied their culture and the recent developments, we believe that there will not be any bloodshed. We also know that the nation depends upon relations with Australia and New Zealand to survive, so any and everyone, regardless of race or political persuasion will treat non-fijians well. This episode is truly unfortunate as many of the poor and "middle class" will suffer as countries either forbid, or discourage trade or tourism with Fiji. (Fiji's middle class as a third world country is "poorer" than most of our "poorest." The median income far less than that of those in Mexico.) The only scenario we can foresee that would delay our departure is if the situation deteriorates further and the US temporarily suspends its citizens to travel to Fiji. On the positive side, these events can and will be used by God to further the citizens of Fiji to cry out for help and be open to the one and only Living Lord in Jesus!
