'`'`'`' Johnson Family Missions '`'`'`' '`'`'`'`' September 2006 '`'`'`'`' Hi !fname: Grace and Peace to you in Jesus name! It has been an incredible blessing being home and preparing for the fall. Seeing friends and family has been a delight. We were able to spend some time with our son, Heath, who is down at ISU - Illinois State University. Kay also had a baby shower for Heidi & Andy, who will be making us grandparents very soon! Kay & Hanna return to Hawaii tomorrow, Tuesday the 12th. Please pray for safe and smooth travel! Curt has one more speaking engagement and a wedding to be a part of before he heads back on the 18th. The web site has been updated if you in the Rockford area want to come to this church service. http://www.johnsonfamilymissions.org We have raised the support for our training this fall, and already have started the fund for our transition to Fiji in Dec 06 or Jan 07. Thanks to everyone who has given and prayed for us. As much as we love all of our family and friends and will miss the fellowship through the years, neither Kay or I felt like we had come "home." We are enjoying our journey very much and "home" will be when we are together, regardless of where that will find us on the planet :-) Please pray for Holli as she is in Namibia, Africa now for 3 months. She will be ministering in an Aids Orphanage and helping with a Sports oriented Discipleship outreach. Heather is in Idaho on a sabbatical and doing well. Again - thanks. We can't imagine being on this journey without those who are yoked with us. By making a commitment monthly we know that you will think and pray for us on a regular basis! "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." We need and want many partners whose hearts will be yoked with ours! The amount isn't as crucial as knowing you are with us on this journey. #2. One time gifts. We will need significant one time gifts in the various outreaches the Lord leads us on. Please consider each outreach and pray if the Lord would have you participate. Our next outreach is FIJI. Our budget for our Missions work in 2006: $12,400 - 3 month YWAM missions School and 2 month Outreach. The plan the Lord gave us is that Curt's business would take care of the Johnson's personal living expenses, and we were to raise support for our Missionary Work. Please pray about linking arms with us for 2006! Make your tax deductible gift out to: YWAM - Honolulu 2707 Hipawai Pl. Honolulu, HI 96822 Attn: Curt and Kay Johnson Family Missions We have an intercessory monthly email for our giving partners. This will be confidential and we will share the nitty gritty prayer requests and what we are battling on a monthly basis to fulfill the destiny set before us. Please let us know personally if you would like to be included in our "fellowship of 30." http://www.johnsonfamilymissions.org/david.htm '`'`'`' Johnson Family Missions '`'`'`' '`'`'`'`' September 2006 '`'`'`'`' Hi !fname: Grace and Peace to you in Jesus name! We wanted to get another note out as we have been soooooo blessed by soooooooo many on our trip back to Illinois. The generosity of God's people has been delightful and humbling. Thanks so much for being a part of our journey. The Lord through His people has provided all of the $7,200 we needed for the training part of our DTS, and have already started to receive the funds we will need before the end of the year for our transition and first 2 months in FIJI. Kay, Hanna & I are back at the YWAM missions base in Honolulu and started our training. We are "official" now, and the reason for this note. Any giving for Johnson Family Missions should now be directed to: YWAM - Honolulu 2707 Hipawai Pl. Honolulu, HI 96822 Attn: Curt and Kay Johnson Family Missions A BIG thank you to Forest City Fellowship for being willing to allow us to have our funds directed through them in this last year of transition! Also - Some have wanted more information about YWAM, Youth With A Mission - so we wanted to get this note out to you. Here is our web site for more information: http://www.johnsonfamilymissions.org YWAM is a missions sending organization started in 1960 by Loren Cunningham. You can read about that here: http://www.ywam.org He also wrote a great book: "Is that really you God?" - that gives the history of YWAM, along with some great teaching on hearing the voice of the Lord. They now have hundreds of bases all over the world. Countless number of young people have been through their DTS - a 5 month discipleship and short term missions program. This is the program that Heather has led for years out of the Honolulu base. Anyone, regardless of age, needs to do a DTS - Discipleship Training School - before they can be official YWAMers or be "sent" as a long term missionary. We love the Honolulu base and will be submitting to their leadership. The base directors are wonderful and have 3 little girls that Hanna enjoys playing with and watching over. We will also be submitting ourselves to the DTS directors - a young couple who just had their first baby. We feel it is a good opportunity to humble ourselves and "start from scratch" in ministry. Living in one room and in tight "community" and accountability for the rest of the year I am sure will challenge us at times - so please be praying :-) The Honolulu's base website: http://ywamhonolulu.com/ We count it a privilege that YWAM has accepted us as an "older" couple and will be our spiritual covering for our missionary endeavors. The Honolulu YWAM base alone processes funds and giving for nearly 300 full time missionaries around the world!!! The base has felt a definite call to aggressively be a part of what God is doing in Fiji. Curt has had a few conversations with Danny Lehman, the founder of the Honolulu Base and on the International Board of Directors for YWAM, regarding Fiji and what is on our heart. God is up to something here, and we are blessed to be attached, sent, and accountable to such a great group of people and organization. When we get to FIJI we will be submitting ourselves to and working with the National Director of YWAM for FIJI, Taubale Toki. A native Fijian, but has traveled the world for years serving the Lord through YWAM. WE will fill you in on the specifics through the rest of this year. Again - Thanks! We can't express how wonderful the fellowship and expressions of support we received blessed our hearts - knowing so many are tangibly yoked with us as we GO forth.
