Johnson Family Missions
Winter 2005 - 2006
Dear Friends and Family:
This Christmas will certainly be different for us! We will miss so many of you and the traditions we had come to enjoy through the years. Heather will be in China, Holli will be in Turkey, Heidi & Andy will be in Rockford. Heath is coming to join us on Christmas day, so it will be the four of us - Curt, Kay, Heath & Hanna.
Kay & I knew when we left our home in Rockford of 40+ years that it was just a first step in a new journey for us. One of my favorite Bible verses has always been: "When you turn to the right or to the left, you ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it." Isaiah 30:21. We knew we couldn't just sit and wait to hear the Lord's will, we needed to be moving and responding. As we have moved to Hawaii we sense the Lord's voice for us to formally join YWAM. We plan on going through the first phase - DTS, Discipleship Training School, in 2006. This is the school Holli is in right now. YWAM requires all their staff to start here. By being an official YWAMer we will have instant contacts all over the world, but more importantly, the Pacific Rim in which we feel is the area of the world we are to reach.
YWAM is also just now starting a concerted effort to build up their work in FIJI. We feel we may be involved in that. Curt met with one of the International Leaders in YWAM, Danny Lehman, and he said, "Maybe you were called to such a time as this for FIJI?" We shall see. When Heather gets back from China, we are planning on taking a short term trip in the spring to FIJI to help with some of the work starting there. It is possible that FIJI will end up being our long-term base of operations. We will continue to walk and listen the best we know how!
We are asking that the Lord would give us a group of people (or couples/families) that would stand with us with a monthly basis. Although FCF will notify us of your giving, please also let us know. We will be starting a intercessory monthly email for these special partners. This will be confidential and we will share the "nitty-gritty" prayer requests and the "deeper" spiritual warfare agreements we need to fulfill the destiny set before us. The amount of money you commit every month isnt as important to us as your heart felt desire to join us in spirit on our journey. (Click Here for more details.)
We also want to update on our daughters' outreaches this winter. Heather will be leading a team to China and Holli will be on a team to Turkey. They left December 5th. Please pray for Heather's gift of leadership and wisdom. They will be smuggling bibles in, so please pray for their wisdom and protection. We have sensed a great deal of spiritual warfare over this. She is leading a group of 4 girls and 4 guys: Ann, Linda, Angela, Amber, Chris, Jason, John, and Mikko.
Holli is with a group of 15 others going to Turkey. Pray for her leaders Chaz & Casey as they lead their team in this part of the world. At this time, Holli is sensing a call to full time missions work also. Please pray that she would hear clearly for her next step and have a radical and awesome outreach to Turkey.
The commissioning service was so touching. It was the closest thing I have ever experienced to being on "Holy Ground." Seeing these kids sacrifice and give up 5 months, Christmas, etc to go spread the Good News was a blessing. That same night they also commissioned a young couple that had been discipled at that base over the past 5 years to go to China long term. This YWAM base alone has commissioned hundreds of long term missionaries to places all over the world the last 30 years.
It was exciting to hear all the prophetic words for the teams and individuals being sent out. (It was fun to be able to give some too! :-)
Heather had the all the girls being sent out over to our apartment the weekend before. We were able to pray for those who were having a hard time receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Please pray for us, look for our monthly enewsletter, and visit us here on a regular basis. We want and need you to be a part our journey.
Grace & Peace to You!
Curt & Kay
